Computer Centre

NIHFW has a Computer Centre with facilities for data analysis, programming and Computer Assisted Learning (CAL). The Institute has established Campus Wide Area Network and computerised different units in the Institute. Four powerful servers are hosted in the computer centre, connecting 250 PCs in the campus. Internet connectivity is also provided to Faculty, Research and Administrative staff through 2 MBPS MTNL leased line. The functioning of academic cell, administration, finance, hospital, hostel, library, stores, etc. is fully computerised under the initiatives taken by the Computer Centre.


The office automation and e-governance software are widely used in the Institute. The Computer Centre has a well-equipped computer lab for teaching/training purpose. Computer training is provided to staff, MD/DHA students and participants of various courses. Computer Centre also organises Short Course on Epidemiological and Biomedical Data Analysis, using Statistical Software. The Centre is also organising training programmes such as Computer Applications in Health and Family Welfare Management. The Centre is working on web-based training programmes.


The Computer Centre has a 'State-of-Art' Video-Conferencing facility. The Institute will charge for providing video conferencing services to other organizations for renting out its indoor video conferencing facility as per table given below:

Teaching Block

The Teaching block has 10 Lecture Halls, 12 Seminar rooms, 1 Conference Hall (with 70 seating capacity), 1 Auditorium (with 365 seating capacity), equipped with state of the art audio-visual facilities.

National Documentation Centre (click here to learn more about NDC)

The National Documentation Centre (NDC) provides its services to the faculty, staff and trainees of NIHFW and other national and international agencies engaged in the implementation of health, population and family welfare programmes in the country. Library is fully computerised and search facility is available through Online Publication Access Catalog (OPAC).

 

NDC has been well furnished with floor carpeting, furniture and fixture. The portraits of eminent scientist and sceneries add more beauty in NDC. Display systems of Journals and arrival of new publications are very well arranged on the wooden racks. Books and Journals, Census of India, Publications and other special Publications (UN, WHO, etc.) are arranged on the first floor of NDC. Sitting arrangement of users has been classified according to the different types of literature - books, journals and newspapers, respectively. This set of change makes library cosy and add glamour to it. Over a period of two decades, it has developed a well-balanced and up-to-date collection of over 70,000 documents including books, periodicals, technical and research reports, conference proceedings, modules and other non-book materials.


DELNET Search

Facilities are also available at Computer Centre. Delhi Library Network (DELNET) is a registered Society, being promoted by NIC, Planning Commission, Govt. of India and India International Centre, New Delhi.  The main objectives of DELNET is to promote resource sharing among member libraries, develop network of libraries, collect, store and disseminate information, offer computerised services to the users.  As our Institute is a member of DELNET, we can access its databases through local e-mail dial-up facility from Computer Centre, NIHFW.  DELNET provides access to the following facilities:


  1. Union catalogue of books;
  2. List of current periodicals in Delhi Libraries;
  3. Union catalogue of periodicals;
  4. CD-ROM database;
  5. Union list of video recordings/sound recording;
  6. Database of urdu manuscripts and thesis and dissertations;
  7. Union catalogue of Hindi books etc. 

DELNET at present has more than 150 libraries as its members from India and two are overseas institutional members. DELNET has created a Web Page on Internet. The Web Address is: www.delent.nic.in


A Local Area Network is installed in NDC with one Pentium IV and several Nodes. One node for circulation, second for acquisition of books and journals, third for creation and updation of in-house database and rest are open for the users to use the database.

• National Family Health Survey Publications
• RCH-RHS Publications
• Back volumes of periodicals


Press and Reprography Unit

The research, training, consultancy, administrative and documentation activities of the Institute were supported by the Reprography activities of the Institute were supported by the Reprography Unit of the institute. The background documents (modules and blocks) for the Post-Graduate Certificate Course in Health and Family Welfare Management and Hospital Management through Distance Learning were reproduced as per requirement. The background and introductory documents for various training courses, survey schedules, and other forms for administrative purpose were also reproduced.


Hostel Facilities & Guesthouse

The Institute has boarding and lodging facilities and can accommodate more than 100 persons at a time. Administrative functions of the hostel is fully computerised. Hostel is also connected with the campus wide computer network.
