Model Injection Centre -INCLEN Initiative
INCLEN is a unique global network of clinical epidemiologists, biostatisticians, social scientists and other Health Professionals affiliated with key academic health care institutions.
Clinical Trials are "GATEWAYS" between research and use of products in Public Health. Keeping this in mind INCLEN has identified Clinical Epidemiology Units (CEUs) in various countries. In NIHFW, India's 7th Clinical Epidemiology Unit is being established. Also a Model Injection Centre is being established here which is a part of this Clinical Epidemiology Unit.
A program to improve injection practices in the country:
Model Injection Centre was established at NIHFW clinic during the phase-III model injection centre program implementation. The main objectives of MIC were:
- Safe injection technique.
- Safe disposal of injection related waste.
- Rationale prescription of injections and
- Creating community awareness through institutional mechanism.
This centre has conducted 19 trainings and 11 CMEs for Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, and Pvt. Waste handlers at Hospitals and dispensary levels and organized one Workshop to Develop Community Strategy at District level till 31st March 2009.
